William t. dahms, M.D. clinical research unit

The William T. Dahms, M.D. Clinical Research Unit (Dahms CRU) located at University Hospitals Case Medical Center has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since 1962 when it became one of the first General Clinical Research Centers (GCRCs) funded by NIH.  Research facilities to accommodate both adult and children participants are housed on the 7th floor of Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.  In addition, now as part of the Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) at Case Western Reserve University, outpatient satellite CRUs facilities are planned where research participants may be also seen at the Otis Moss Jr. University Hospitals Medical Center and University Hospitals Bedford Medical Center.

This distinguished research resource provides dedicated facilities and expert staff to facilitate successful completion of clinical research involving adults and children. The resources of the Dahms CRU are available to all qualified investigators in the University community and across the region.  We are eager to forge partnerships to develop innovative research opportunities in all aspects of health care.  Personnel with training and expertise in ethics, informatics, nursing care, nutrition and specialized laboratory techniques are available to assist with project design as well as implementation.
